Data journalism is not a new concept any more. In established media outlets using data to tell compelling stories is a norm, and professional journalists use data on daily basis to strengthen their work with evidence. Recognizing the importance of data literacy, the Eurasia Partnership Foundation and Caucasus Research Resource Center launch a free Data Journalism Course that consists of six (6) workshops. The workshops will be conducted once per month from December, 2017 to May, 2018. The first workshop will be dedicated to Data Visualization and it will be conducted on December 4-5, 2017. The dates for the remaining five workshops will be announced in January.
The Course will cover such topics as: the role of data in the newsroom, the skills necessary for data journalists, ways to find and clean relevant data, approaches to analyzing data to identify compelling stories, and clear presentation of data. The workshops will be delivered by international trainers with simultaneous translation into the Azerbaijani language and by local trainers in the Azerbaijani language.
People that attend all six workshops will be awarded a Certificate of Completion provided by the EPF/CRRC and the U.S. Embassy in Baku that is supporting this course.
