Q: Do I have to provide my IELTS/TOEFL certificate in order to apply?

A:  It is not necessary, however, if you already have taken an exam and receive your certificate you can add it to your application before the deadline. Only short-listed candidates will be required to take the official TOEFL and GRE tests which will be funded by the U.S. Embassy Baku.

 

Q:  Can I provide IELTS certificate instead of TOEFL?

A:  Yes, you can but later in the process TOEFL might be required.

 

Q: When shortlisted candidates are required to take standardized tests?

A: Shortlisted candidates, who will be nominated for the final placement stage, will be required to take TOEFL and GRE/GMAT exam in October-November with prepaid vouchers. If they candidates fail to achieve required score on TOEFL test (IBT 90) in this time frame, they will be removed from the placement process.

 

Q: I am currently residing in Azerbaijan, but I am citizen of another country. Am I still eligible to apply?

A:  No, in order to apply you have to both hold citizenship of Azerbaijan and currently reside in Azerbaijan.

A:  No, in order to apply you have to both hold citizenship of Azerbaijan and reside in Azerbaijan currently.

 

Q: May I provide recommendation letters later than deadline?

A:  No, you have to provide letters of recommendation no later than application deadline.

 

Q: My recommender does not speak English. Can recommendation letters be in another language?

A:  No, your recommenders will be required to visit website and fulfill recommendation form in English.

 

Q: I have finished university long ago. Can I provide all three recommendation letters from employers?

A:  One of recommendation letters has to be academic, not depending on graduation year.

 

Q: I am currently involved in getting Master’s degree. Am I still eligible to apply?

A:  Yes, if you are studying in one of Azerbaijan universities. Foreign universities (except US) students are also eligible, however we prefer to give chance to those students, who have less academic experience abroad.

 

Q: I already hold one Master’s degree. Am I still eligible to apply?

A:  Yes, if you hold degree from one of Azerbaijan universities. Foreign universities (except US) graduates are also eligible, however we prefer to give chance to those students, who have less academic experience abroad.

 

Q: I am 4th year Bachelor’s degree student and have two years of working experience. Am I still eligible to apply?

A:  In order to apply, you need to have a least two years of consecutive full-time work experience and you should have a diploma with transcript.

 

Q: Can I apply for the field of study which differs from my previous one?

A:  Yes, you can. However, do not forget that you are required to have a least two years of consecutive full-time work experience in the field which you are applying for.

 

Q: Which Fulbright Foreign Student Program cycle I should apply for?

A:  U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan is recruiting for 2022-2023 and candidate should choose this cycle for application.

 

Q: Do I need to submit any supplementary documents mentioned in the application?

A:  No, U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan does not require any supplementary documents at this stage of admission process. Do NOT submit the hard copies of diplomas and transcript and signature forms to the Embassy.

 

Q: Is independent admission to U.S. University required for FFSP in Azerbaijan?

A:  No, FFSP is a global application system and in some countries Fulbright program gives an option for candidate to apply independently and then apply for FFSP for funding. In Azerbaijan, we only fund students, who apply to FFSP directly and not through independent admission process.

 

Q: I have been admitted to a U.S. University though independent application process. Can I apply for FFSP program?

A:  No. Applicants who have already applied to a U.S. university on their own will not be considered for the FFSP. Applicants have to apply for 2022-2023 FFSP cycle in Azerbaijan and be shortlisted for further placement at the U.S. Universities.
