Today, the U.S. Embassy raised the Pride flag in commemoration of IDAHOT Day- the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.
The United States is a country that celebrates diversity, and LGBTI people are an important and valued part of our community. In the United States, openly LGBT people are defending their country in the U.S. military, serving as elected Members of Congress, and working with distinction in fields ranging from medicine and business to political activism and the arts. LGBTI people are also raising families. They are our neighbors, our friends and our family members.
On IDAHOT Day, we remember that LGBTI people have the same rights as everyone else in society. Disliking someone is not a reason to deny them the right to peacefully live their life and contribute to society.
